Wasee Wasee!

Wasee WaseeMchongoanos are very much a part of our (Kenyan) culture today as they were all those years ago during my primary school days. And it’s not only school going kids who enjoy this form of art but adults with a youthful heart (and a sense of humour) as well.

This book is

chock full of mchongoanos that you can use for every situation. Sample this: ‘Kwenu nyinyi mafala hadi mna patia kuku zenu

maji moto

ati ndio zitoe mayai boilo’

I’m sure you’ll love it!

I have my whole family taking these now.

My daughter experiences less stomach aches and everyone has less gas. Discount priced viagra. You should be able to talk with a human being, including a licensed pharmacist, to answer questions about your prescription.

Halfway Between Nairobi and Dundori

Halfway Between nairobi and DundoriThis is a book that takes through the up and downs of being Kenyan and

in love, kinda…You will recognize the places, smell the places, love and hate the characters, incredible word pictures!

Muthoni Garland’s characters

are so sharply etched that you want to ask them for the fifty bob they borrowed from you last week. I can’t decide if I like it as much as Tracking the Scent of My Mother, or even more.

I wish it ended ‘my fairy tale’ way. But hey, life is

hard and gritty, no?

My family and I love this product. For years we have took it. Viagra canadian pharmacies. Our pharmacy is the leader in delivering medications throughout the world.

Petals of Blood

Petals of BloodSet in Kenya but could be a prototype for a native

culture anywhere

colonized, breaking free, then globalized which is an extension of colonialism. It is easy to understand why the author was imprisoned after the book’s publication in 1977 as he presents a bleak view of what the Kenyans got in the way of leaders after independence from the white rulers. The viewpoint here seems to be anyone “for the people” is assassinated, those that stay in power are stinking rich doing business with the former white rulers and selling out their own people.

The story opens with a brief introduction of the four main characters – Munira, Abdulla, Wanja and Karega – a triple murder has just taken place, 3 leading millionaire government officials of the city of Ilmorog were burned to death in their beds. We are then taken back twelve years in time to when Munira arrived in the sleepy, dusty village of Ilmorog to teach school, The four friends meet and we hear their individual stories, how they change over the years but more so how the place called Ilmorog changes, from a dusty village to a modern urban centre, and the effect on people who lived there for generations.

I found the book very dense reading at first because of the style of writing with many flashback is challenging, but before page 100 I was

sailing along and could hardly put the book down. There are many layers to this novel, it is a book about Africa, about the world history of black people in general, globalization, colonialism, and a murder mystery as well, the arsonist responsible for the triple

murder is revealed to us by the end.

Be Inspired Before You Expire

Scientists tell us that human

beings were created with infinite potential; this potential been virtually limitless. It’s further suggested that on average, human beings only use about ten percent of their intelligence, with most of us going through l

ife without ever exploiting our full potential.

Pepe Minambo’s book, Be Inspired Before You Expire is a user’s

manual to self ignition-not the fiery kind, but of one’s inherent self potential. The book is written in a simple, smooth and conversational style with gripping use of grammar.

Sample this:

An expired person is a careless person because he has nothing to lose in life; he has no sense of purpose or destiny, he is reckless and is as harmful as an expired drug which is poisonous and detrimental to human health. Expired people cause others to expire.’

If that doesn’t grip you, then nothing will!

The book is divided into twelve chapters touching on various aspects of life. Chapter six (Self Awareness) is particularly an eye opener. The chapter introduces the concept of your Unique Selling Point in life and how to find yourself.

The chapters are short and to

the point. The reader is advised to read them slowly while reflecting on how to apply the ideas into one’s life. The book is simply CAPTIVATING! On completion, one gets the feeling of being revitalized.

The writer liberally quotes world figures that have made an impact in the world during their lives such as Winston Churchill, Abraham Maslow and Jack Welch.

The writer doesn’t give enough local examples that the Kenyan reader can readily identify with.

I kept hoping for success stories. Our country boasts several entrepreneurs who have built veritable empires that have impacted the local lives, providing livelihoods to several thousand people directly and indirectly and enhancing lives. These “local heroes” should have been mentioned and held up as inspirational figures especially in this era of glorified corruption where the barons of graft are considered heroes.”
